So, we had to bail. My client was getting to the point where they could no longer wait for the elusive 2.7 release that I had originally sold them on. And given that it turns out that 2.7 is now just going into public beta, it seems to have been the right choice.

I look forward to re-evaluating the final version when it finally emerges, but for now we've had to go another route in order to deliver. :(

Thanks for the update. I can appreciate the balance between shipping late and shipping buggy. Knowing (or guessing correctly) exactly where that balance lies is what made Microsoft so successful

As for promising clients functionality based on a vendor's promised release dates, anyone who has been the business for very long knows to tread lightly there. Even the best of vendors (and I'll put DTH on that list) make mistakes, encounter the unexpected, etc.

I never promise a client or a boss anything on any time-line before it's shipped and I've done my own QA in a sandbox/development site. Murphy, Giver of the Law can be very unforgiving.

Guys, it's always a bad idea to give the exact date to the customers depending on the release statement. It's actually not this project fault, it's yours. This project is worrying about their product reputation and you have to be worrying about yours. The programming is not the game and the bug can be detected somewhere you can never imagine, so it gives the honor to this team, because they are trying not to release a half-ready product today, get applause today and bag reviews on the JED tomorrow.

I've been developing my project for the last 14 months! and I still can't launch it no matter what my clients say. I know one thing exactly. Today's excitement and satisfaction don't last for a long time.

The JED is overflown with junk extensions, and the junk teams are breeding them as rabbits, you get them and tomorrow will be sitting with headache, trying to fix a million bugs etc. Eventually you will waste much more time.
I'm not a native English speaker, so don't judge me too hard, please.

Hi there

I really hate to be complaining over here, but the release of 2.7 is taking way too long. The original release date was set in early October, and it is now mid-November already and yet we still have not seen the release of then next update.

I understand that you all are working hard on ironing out all the bugs and kinks, but could you at least update us on the situation instead of just keeping all of us in the dark? Thank you!
