There seems to be a confusing process flow when using the multi-cart option and setting the joomla user creation for events to "Yes". The first event the user registers for, they have to select a username and password to use for their joomla account. If they get to the shopping cart and select register for another event, the next event they register for also requires them to enter a username and password. So each event they register for during the initial session requires them to enter a username and password.

True... this is because the user account is not created until a registration is completed. There is not really a way around this presently. It hasn't come up before either, so we haven't really thought about this scenario :) If this is an issue... maybe consider forcing users to create their account separately BEFORE they register for events.

Agreed. Once my site is up and running properly it should not be an issue for me as most will be already be registered or only registering for one event. It is just preventing me currently from allowing people to do multiple registrations in one session (normally for a couple) since I cannot use the group registration feature because of the way the attendee list is displayed. I did request a quote earlier today for a custom attendee list display for group registrations.

I too experienced this....the cart method is not like a traditional cart system. Its a very poor user experience. I have coded around it by customizing the checkout process by forcing login before redirect. so that when they come back around, they don;t have to fill out the fields again..I used Jomsocial to handle the accounts.

That said, I have now discovered that their is no username check upon checkout! The system hangs at checkout if you use the same username and never warns you. You have to literally refresh the screen and start all over again!

As discussed a bit here as well as other threads... the user account will not be created until registration is completed. You know how many bogus accounts you'd have created in your system if they were created just when something was added to the cart?? That could be a real mess. Anyway... we do not recommend using BOTH auto-user creation and multi-event registration at the same time... due to this scenario. Maybe we can come up with a good solution for this in the future, but for now, this is how it works. So setup accordingly... use whichever is the most important of the two features for you and your users.

If you set it to have users login prior to registering, this is the BEST scenario anyway because when the user goes back to add a 2nd event, 3rd event, etc... the form fields will auto-populate from their profile. Without that... without being logged in already... each event will require the user to fill out the entire form from scratch again. So for multi-event registration, having login first is a much better user experience.

If you just can't or don't want to do that, I'd recommend creating a textual field and ordering it first so it shows just under the username/password fields. In that textual field, provide instruction to tell the users to NOT enter username/password if they have already entered it for another event that is already in their cart. This will work if user creation is set to Optional. Not is you set it as Required.

Hopefully this will help you guys be clarified on how it all works and to sort it out for your needs.

Hey Dthadmin ,
Don't want to take this off topic but for what we are doing we would actually love the ability to have multiple user creation through multiple event reg .
If you remember we are running a soccer club site which has the parents sign up for a membership then register their children .

We did exactly as you described and never set multiple reg and only used single reg to create each reg and user accounts . But in saying that it would have been 1000 times better if the parents just had to use one form or process to create all registrations and accounts in one go ( also would keep their Reg Records all under the same Reg ID making it easier to locate them ) .
I suppose this is more for the wishlist section but i thought it was relevant to this thread .

eg.
Father :- John Doe signs up for Club Membership and wants a site account as well ( joomla account )
Son 1 :- son1 Doe needs to be signed up by his parent/guardian ( for legal reasons ) and needs an account as well ( for forum, jomsocial etc )
Son 2 : son2 ( same as above

And so on

to do this multiple times is time consuming and annoying for the customers . So if multiple user creation could be implemented with multiple reg I would be very happy :D .

Either way DtReg rocks !
