I was able to get my group registrations to work. The key was to make sure that there is at least one field on the Billing page. My original setup only had fields for the group member page and no billing page fields (It was blank). This caused no problem for Paypal which charged the right amount but I never had records generated in DTRegister. Once I added the email field to the billing page, the problem went away.

Has this problem been solved yet? I recently had 119 users registrar and pay through paylpal. The problems is I had 15 of them whose payments were received in paypal, but I have no data that they registered. Currently I have no similarities or trends as to why this would be. I am currently using version 2.67.

Please advise because this is a major issue for my customers.

Thank you

We're seeing the exact same thing on our server. Most transactions come through just fine from PayPal IPN. However, we have seen about 5% of them fail to create a DTRegister registration for the event. According to PayPal, the IPN notification was successful (status code 200). I can provide example IPN transaction details.

Also, the PayPal transaction_id field in jos_dtregister_user is now blank for ALL PayPal registrations, even those that are successful. The record is created by that field is blank. Prior to hardening the server (locked down PHP and Apache using Joomla best practices) a couple weeks back the PayPal transaction_id field did properly populate.

However, I still think this is a DTRegister bug and not an IPN bug since I have another component (com_freepaypal) that successfully captures and posts the IPN transaction IDs to its data tables.

We're using DTRegister version 2.7.9c on Joomla 1.5.25.

Found this thread while trying to resolve a similar issue. The majority of registrations are working fine. But we had 1 several months ago and now 3 this week that posted in Paypal but we don't have any record of within DT Register.

One of the three from this week I was able to find, enter in missing info in the database and now it shows correctly. However, with the other two, the only record I have for them is a truncated session record (in the dt_register_session table) that matches with Paypal's transaction where it records the session id.

Can't figure out what's going on but without a solution we're going to have to jump ship and use a different system. We can't have registrants falling through the cracks.

A quick follow-up. We have upgraded to DT Register 2.7.13 as the DTH support folks suggested. Unfortunately, it did nothing to solve the problem. Yesterday we had 50% of our 10 registrations through PayPal fail.

I can assure you that the IPN notifications are making it to our server since I see them in the Apache server logs. We are using a different Joomla PayPal IPN component to handle non-DT Register payments, and that component has been working 100% while the DT Register implementation fails. That tells me it's a DT Register problem, not a firewall or PayPal IPN issue.

Looking for a trend, I have posed the question to our failed registrants as to what they did after they submitted their PayPal payment. From their responses, it's not clear whether they followed the link on the PayPal site and returned to our site or just closed their browser window.

There is a similar topic elsewhere on the DTH Support site:

with some more recent discussion.

I am losing registration records when a user goes to PayPal. I have read through this thread and my IPN settings may be incorrect. Below is what it said in the 2nd post in the thread. I have enabled the IPN and auto-return is OFF, but can anyone tell me where to check the permissions and the sending of IPN messages? Thank you! I checked my IPN history for the last 28 days and all the records say Failed, Disabled (which I think I fixed when I enabled IPN) or Resending.... Aargh!! I need help!

- IPN must be enabled in your paypal account
- sending of IPN messages must be enabled (in personal accounts)
- Auto-return must be OFF in the account
- Permissions must be correct on your site (755 for directories and 644 for files)
