TOPIC: Passcode to register?

I would like to see an event have an optional passcode to register.

I have one event that requires 2 steps.

Step 1: Users contact a 3rd party organization that runs the event to get qualified for the event.
Step 2: User comes to our site to enroll after step 1 is completed.

It would be great if I could set up a passcode that the main organization would give to the participants who complete step 1.

So when a user clicks enroll now, they see a customized explanation, and then requests the passcode. If they enter it wrong, it brings them to a custom explanation page.

This is possible already using discount codes. Set the event to use discount codes but make them REQUIRED. This way, it turns your discount code into more of a passcode. So, once a user is qualified, you create a unique code that is sent to the user. The discount code is set with a limit of 1 (so it's used once per event), a discount of 0, and enabled for all events.

This should work for what you want to do... just a matter of establishing a process. If you'd want to discuss this further with maybe customization that goes beyond the already available options, let us know!

The use of a discount code would confuse the average user. If we did use this system of required discount code, then we would be fielding calls about "where is the discount".

The process described above would make the need for a "code to continue" process very clear to the user.

Just make changes in the language file so it doesn't say "Discount Code"... unless you actually use discount codes in other events.

I do use discount codes.

We had a coder get it to work for us. I sent a ticket to see if DTH wants the code changes....
