Other registration components offer Automated Follow Up emails X days after an event.
This would be extremely useful for providing all registrants with an email containing information after an event. This could be a simple Thank You, it could direct them to a Survey, it could request a return email with Feedback, or could attack a certificate of attendance Etc. The ability to send this automated email would be outstanding.
I doubt it would be hard, seeing as how DT is already set up to send automated emails.
CRON job may or may not be necessary, but would be a perfectly acceptable way to go about this.
Please add this feature so I can switch BACK to using DT!!
You can solve this by using the Acajoom email subscriber-addon - and then add the registrants to a email list (automated) that sends emails X-days after they were added to the list... This is what I have done... but i have not managed to send them emails X-days after the last date of the event..

Well, DTR seems to be building plugins which hook into other best-in-class tools.
Acajoom happens to be a very good newsletter system.
Also, DTR is focused on event management, but is not necessarily that strong on email communications - the options can sometimes be a bit limited.
Guess there is a fork in the road with all these projects to decide what your core competency is and what you will focus development on.
Email is a tricky business - you have spam issues, autoresponders, easy unsubscribe links and such that this tool DTR may not want to get into.
So if you hook it into another good component (and i'm not pushing acajoom, it could be any one of many), then you get rid of a lot of headaches. Yes you have to spend $$ to get said component but you also get a lot of bang for that buck because you have a good tool that does a lot of good stuff for you that you probably needed to do anyway.
Every Joomla site should have a newsletter component. I use ACY mailing on a handful of sites, the build in CB Mailer, and am trying RS Mail as well. Theres no question there.
But in the specific case of one of my clients, we have 4 or 5 events per week that are single user signup only. Just one person can register for these 'shadowing' times. When they're done, we'd like to be able to have a 'follow up' survey sent to that registrant.
Now I would never want to create mailing lists of 1 person for these events. It doesn't make sense. DT already has, what, 10 custom email message options for each event? Adding an 11th for followup seems like it should be almost Copy+Paste trivial.
So while I appreciate everyone pushing this toward a Mailing List component, it's not alogical implementation for this specific need. But don't look at this need as trivial or specific to 1 customer. Think about all of the ways everyone could use an automated follow-up email. Think about all of the ways we all could better market, survey, and conclude our events with a simple post-event mail.
We depend on repeat attendance and surveys from attendees to our events in evaluating speakers, services, vendors, and many things. A post event auto mailing feature would be awesome.
