Just found out when I login as super user it works fine. When I login as the cruise leader that has access to just one cruise, I get the error message.

Adding something else. Under permissions there is a Mass Email but not Email Registrants? On the Control Panel it shows both? We don't want the Mass email ability. Just to send to the people on their cruise? Click on Mass email and no option really comes up. Should not be there? I attached 2 screen shots I think?

OK, now it is working for Authur! Yea. But I still wonder why the mass Email is available.

The "Mass Email" in permissions IS the setting for the "Email Registrants" feature. There are not two different things. The "Mass Email Templates" is an OPTIONAL new feature to create email templates to re-use for sending the mass emails in the "Email Registrants" area. The "Mass Email Records" is a new storage of email history for using "Email Registrants". There is only one item in the permissions matrix that affects this.

The Email Registrants (or mass email) feature is used to create and send emails to existing registrants of a selected event... so emails AFTER people have already registered. If you remove permissions for this, it won't show to people that you don't want to use that.

Emails that are sent to the registrant and the admin immediately after a registration happen automatically and there is nothing you have to turn on for that to happen. You can't turn it off either.

You may also be having some issue due to a user being assigned to multiple Joomla user groups. It's usually not necessary so try assigning the user only to the necessary group and save. Then that user will need to logout and login again for the change to apply... unless you have our ACL Fix plugin installed that addresses that annoying Joomla issue.

So if I understand what you are saying, the Mass Email really only goes to those that have registered for the event. The difference between Email Registrants and Mass Email is that with Mass Email you can use a template. Is this right?

"Email Registrants" and "Mass Email" are the same exact thing. We recently added the ability to use templates within this feature... but it is not two different things.
