Ok, updated to the newest DTRegister, then the newest Joomla a couple days ago.

Have had a couple of people register since then, no problem.

Now this morning, I get 2 PayPal notifications that 2 different people have paid, but there are NO new registration records in the system !!!!

No clue how that happened

The notifications from PayPal are about 3 minutes apart.

About to contact the users and have them email me their details so I can manually register them for the event...

I too am having this problem. Have no idea what the problem is. Didn't do anything except upgrade Joomla to 3.5 and then updated to the latest version of DT Register.

HELP!

Just to add another data point. I just finished an event on Joomla 3.4.8 and DT Register 3.1.6f and we had some no registration record situations too. The attendees had their PayPal receipt - but we had no matching registration record.

First time that's ever happened.

Another one with no record in DT Register, but I got the payment notification from PayPal...

So I am guessing the DT Register record isn't created unless the PayPal IPN callback happens within a certain time ???

In any case, it's never been an problem in the past 8+ years, but now this is the third one in a week.... it doesn't happen on every registration, just these 3 so far.

ntrpgcon - I've already responded to your ticket with reasoning why you're having this issue.

jwballard - responded to yours earlier as well.

mark - your issue will not be the same as the other two... so not actually related to this exact post.

Okay, as tons of other forum posts explain, if a user chooses to NOT return to your website after making the payment with PayPal, their IPN kicks in and notifies DT Register of that payment so the record can be completed. If they return to your site, IPN isn't needed and there is no issue... which is why most registrations work just fine. If IPN fails, something else in the mix is causing an issue. In the past, there have been various bugs that got in the way, but here's the current items to consider and be aware of...

For Mark and those using DT Register 3.1.6 and earlier... but also current builds...

IPN will fail if:
- IPN is not enabled in your PayPal account
- permissions are incorrect on your site. They should be 755 for directories and 644 for files, including the directory containing your Joomla install on down.
- added security elements in your .htaccess file (or elsewhere) that would prevent direct access to /components/com_dtregister/success.php. The Admin Tools component has been seen as a source of this in many cases.

For those running DT Register 3.1.7 (and future builds)...

PayPal has established some new requirements that force IPN usage to be more secure. We've incorporated the changes into this latest DT Register release. Beyond that, your own server environment must support the new PayPal requirements.

Your server must have:
- CURL enabled with OpenSSL support
- Support for TLS 1.2 and HTTP/1.1
- Support for the SHA-256 signing algorithm for certificates

We have tested 3.1.7 and IPN does work correctly... barring any issues with above mentioned items.

Mine appears to be fixed.

Even though my server shows cURL was installed, it was not installed for PHP. Once I installed cURL for PHP and then verified it was installed under the PHP Information tab, I did a registration and paid via PayPal and didn't return to the website, and the registration record was created like it's suppose to.

So cURL needs to be installed for your PHP not the cURL command line for your Linux. (I am not a Linux guy so it was confusing for a minute)
