For some reason my users registration are populating the city field with "United States"
I see that the backend shows the proper city but the field value when they register and the csv shows United States. not sure how often sync changes user data or how to find where United States is being picked up? This happened during our use of 3.09a that was outdated so I waited for us to do an update to see if it corrects but it did not currently using 3.1.4
Configuration>General>User Profile Integration> set to JomSocial
Configuration>Profile Sync .. Jomsocial 'City/Tow'n set to Dtregister 'city'
You'll need to submit a ticket with admin access on this one. I've not heard of this happening to anyone else. Maybe try changing the sync setting for city to something else... save... then go back and change it to what you want again... save again.
See if that helps. Also make sure the email tab has "From Name" and "From Email" set. If not, the config won't actually save your changes.
