Does anyone know of a way to test registration forms without making them active?

I routinely have 2-5 Events "under construction" at any given time as well as having many Events that are currently accepting registrations. Is there a way to test the "under construction" forms without having them show up in the Events listing page? How can we effectively test a form without allowing people to sign up when the form really isn't ready yet?

It would also be nice to be able to send a registration link to allow event organizers to test their Event Registrations, again without having the Event open and active to the public.

Has anyone found a way to do this? Maybe it's possible to set the visibility of an Event Registration so only Super Admins and/or Event Owners can see it? this would allow a testing environment that the general public could not see.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

You can do this with the access level controls on categories. Assign a certain access level to a "Testing" category. Then assign the event to that testing category until it's ready to go live. Only users assigned to this particular user group will see the events.

Thanks Nathan,

I have implemented this and it works well. Are we limited to the Guest, Public, Registered and Special Access Levels or is there a way to link the available Access Levels to the Joomla permission levels or somehow add more levels within DTRegister?

It is nice to have Event Organizers test the forms that I have built for them before we go live but the Registered level does not give the event enough protection to not allow anyone who is signed in to get to it before we are ready to go live and I don't really like giving anyone Special access to my site, especially just to test a form. If we were able to link the DTRegister levels to the Joomla permission levels it would be easy to add a level for Race Organizers and allow them to access the "testing" forms and no one else.

Of course maybe this is possible already and I am missing something, thanks in advance for any more advice you may be able to provide on this.

The access level options seen in the category setup come straight from Joomla. You can create new ones or edit existing ones in the Joomla user manager area.
