Most likely, you need to update the category that the events are assigned to. If the category is unpublished or has an incorrect access level, you will not see any events assigned to it. Open and re-save your categories... and if you want the events to show up to everyone, set the access level of the categories to "Public".

The problem was with the categories in DT. I was thinking of the categories in joomla but they are separate. In DT the category was not published and the access was set to guest. After changing both, my events were available on the front end.
