TOPIC: Do Reminders follow repeats?

I have an event that repeats every month (first Thursday of the month). I'd like to send an email reminder about it. Can I create just one reminder for that event and will it follow the repeats? Or do I need to enter a reminder for EVERY one of the events? (Sorry for being thick about it - I just want to make sure I understand this exceptional feature.)
