Hello,

So my organization will often schedule events where fees are not charged and at other times fees will be charged. However, we like to wait until just before the event to decide on the fee as we try to keep this in line with the cost of the event. So is there a way to list an event where there will the listing will say Price: TBD instead of Price: Free?

Thanks,

MASC

You can modify the language file and change it from "Free" to whatever else you want. However, that will apply in all cases where a fee is not there. You can't change "Free" only in some cases. You CAN use the event description (which shows in the list view) and give further pricing details for the event.

OK, so I found this entry in the Language folder in en-GB.com_dtregister.ini:

DT_Free="Free"

And replaced it with:

DT_FREE="Please See Event Details"

I was wondering if this would translate to events already created because the event listing is still showing Price: Free.

Thanks for your help.

It doesn't matter what the status of the event is. Anywhere the tag DT_FREE is used, it will display the text you provided... as long as you did it correctly. Remember there are TWO language files... one for the frontend and one for the backend.

Front:
/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_dtregister.ini

Back:
/administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_dtregister.ini

ALSO, I just looked and discovered that the frontend language file has TWO entries for DT_FREE. So you probably changed one, but it was then overwritten by the second one. We're fixing the files so the next package update doesn't contain the 2nd un-needed entry.

So search your language file and delete one of them. Doesn't matter which one, just make sure there is only one DT_FREE entry.
