Here's a question:
Apologies if this is there and I've just overlooked it. Dtreg comes VERY highly recommended, of course, so this is a feature that seems only natural to be present in the plugin - considering that, and the overall quality of the plugin. is there a way to have events effectively nested inside parent events? Use case: say we have a coference or a convention open to registration. this conference can have any number of sessions or lunches or seminars associated with it. for reporting reasons we would want to nest these seminars inside of the parent conference registration.
Clarification: i use the term nested event, but that may be misleading. the seminars etc in this use case don't need separate registration; they're more like RSVPs, although it would be great to have time conflict checking for them...
Hello! Many people just use selection fields for things like this so the registrant can choose from other options. Utilizing our conditional fields, there's a lot you can accomplish... and you also can have limits and price modifications from the field selections too.
The other option is to use prerequisite events. You would create the "nested event" and set it to have a prerequisite of the parent event. This would give a separate registration for the sub options, so it could be done during registration of the main event (using the cart feature), or added later. Using the prerequisite feature, no one would be able to register for the sub events unless they were already registered for the parent event. Note that using this feature would require users to login... as it would check their registration history based on their user account.
Going the route of using separate events, you could also enable our overlapping event check in configuration so prevent time conflicts... but of course set the main event to be ignored in the overlap check.
So, there are at least two ways you could accomplish this... just depends on which one will work best for your site. Hope that helps!
