TOPIC: Fields wont disappear on conditional format

I have a Name field based upon selection of students for a teacher registration form . If they select a number (say 6 students) and then need less (say they meant 5), then field box disappears, but the name field still appears and then won't let them proceed as it is a mandatory field, but it isn't supposed to be there anymore. Help

Did i set something wrong?

yes i have upgraded to the newest version and this has not been a problem before.
