TOPIC: security images where?

is there a sep install of captcha necessary?
just checking security images in config does what?
any particular captcha install?

No, it's not a separate install. Enabling that in configuration adds a captcha check at the bottom of all event registration forms. You'll need to have the GD image library enabled with freetype font support in your PHP configuration for it to work correctly.
