TOPIC: how does payment through authorize.net work?

I'm a potential customer for this component, but before I buy, I'm trying to understand how the credit card payment works. Does the user actually enter the credit card information on my site and then my site sends that to authorize.net, or does the user get transfered to the authorize.net site first, then enter their credit card info? I just don't want to be responsible for having a customer enter their cc info on my site.
