I am designing a site for a relay race and need to see if DT Register will accommodate the following features (A couple of the questions, I think I know the answer to based on other posts, but I just want to make sure before I purchase).

1. A team captain will need to be able to register multiple runners. Is this possible?

2. Can a team captain send a group email to only his team using DT Register?

3. Can a captain edit his team from the front end of the website (add, remove, modify members), or is this only available in the back end?

3b. If back end is only available for my previous question, can it be done in a way where a captain can see only his team, and see only his team and not other administrator items. (I really don't want team captains tooling around in the admin).

Thanks,
Troy Whatcott

Hello. I'll try to answer your questions...

1) You can setup "Detailed Group Registration" which will allow you to collect data for each member in a group, then finish with the billing contact info. So a team manager could register the group and enter data for each member.

2) DT Register doesn't allow registrants to email other registrants. However, it sounds like your team manager may be registering his own "event". Is that what you are doing?? That is what makes sense based on this question. If it is... there IS an email feature where the event owner can send emails to all current registrants of a select event. However, please note that this feature is currently only available from the backend Joomla management. It will be added to the frontend soon.

3) This answer depends on what you are thinking... if you are having a team manager login to the website to register his team as described above in #1, then YES. We have what we call a User Panel, where the person that made the registration can go and modify the registration, IF such permission has been setup for that event. The user would be able to edit members, add/remove members, etc.

If you have other questions, let us know!

Thank you so much for your answers. As in question one, it is basically the same event on a yearly basis with 200-300 teams, so we could workaround this. Not crucial. The main thing was managing the registration from the front end which it sounds like is going to be great. Do you have some screenshots of the front end editor panel I could see, just to give to my client -or- a demo would be great. Screenshots are fine, though.

Thanks so much for your plain and direct answers!

One last question: Can a field be validated based on age. For instance, if a team requires a minimum age (21) and a younger age is entered (say 18), could the field be set to give an error message and not allow the completion of the form?

Hello again. For the frontend event management, you should go to http://www.dthdevelopment.com/demo

user: demo1
pass: demo123

Currently, there is a menu item setup for Events Control Panel. If that isn't there when you try the site, you can login to the backend and create a menu item to then test on the frontend.

For field validation, you can't set that type of check on a text input field. What you might consider is creating a drop down selection field to choose the age, but start with 18 as the lowest option... so it will be clear that you must be 18 or older. The field can be required so the user will have to select something. Thanks.

Thanks. The only other question is (and this is really the most important):

When a team captain goes in to build their team, and when they need to come back and edit/add/remove members, where would they do that? Also, is there a way to make it where they only see their team in the event? The teams should not be able to see the other teams' information, even though they will all be registering for 1 event.

I am sorry for all of this, I am working for a very picky client and need to make sure it is what they are looking for before I purchase and it is mine.
