Hi,
I really like the look of your DT Register extension so I am hoping it will do what I want as it will save alot of time customising other software! I am building a website for a conference/trade expo who currently manage all their members off line. Eventually we will be using Jomsocial to move their membership system online, but not before the upcoming expo.
I need the following functionality:
1) Ability to have 2 different pricing levels for each event; one for members and one for non-members. These will obviously have to be authorised/policed offline, as I mentioned before membership is currently managed offline. But I just need the ability to give 2 pricing options for users to select the right one. Looking through your documentation, would groups be suitable for this?
2) During the Conference/Trade Expo weekend is a number of events that users can register for. If the user happens to be a company registering on behalf of a number of staff for example, each staff members name will need to be listed so organisers can prepare name tags, seating charts, etc. So the company can register for all staff under the one registration, could we use your Conditional custom fields? i.e. have a custom filed asking the number of attendees which would trigger a number of text fields to list staff member names depending number of attendees custom field?
3) While users can register for events individually, discounted packages are also available that that include a number of events. Is it possible to set up pacakges that would automatically register users for a number of events when they sign up for a package? It would make the website useablilty much more effective and inline with marketing if users could select and register for the one package, rather than have to select the events within the package individually.
Sorry about the long post, hope I have explained my needs ok.
1) For the pricing, you have a couple options. Our built in member discount will automatically apply to "members", which are users that are logged in to your website. If that works for you, cool. If not, you can provide any other price variations (up or down) using our fee fields... so based on selections the user makes, the price is calculated appropriately.
2) Yes, this COULD be done with the conditional fields. However, this would not count your number of registrants towards the event capacity. That may or may not matter to you. If you need the capacity check, you can enable the "Detailed Group Registration" option which will ask the number in the group, then ask details for member 1, member 2, etc. If all you need is a name, your field idea would be smoother, but either would work. Just depends on your overall need and preferences. DT Register is very flexible and often has multiple ways to accomplish the same need.
3) There is not a manner presently to register for a package that auto-registers a user for other events. You CAN register for multiple events with one transaction as each is added to a cart... then make one payment. This works best when profile integration is used together with it (like JomSocial).
