I am new to going live with DTRegister etc. We do not have credit card, PayPal or other facilities. We would like to have people use a direct deposit into our nominated bank account (Australia) in such a way that a unique reference code was generated. Anyone with this sort of experience? Thanks

I'm not sure it's possible with this component either with the rest of such kind.
Internet banking exists, but as far as I know every bank has its custom software for this (always quite stuffy and difficult to understand even if you have managed to install it).
Personally I haven't heard that wire transfers bank-to-bank are possible with joomla extensions at all.

Even if it's possible, I don't think that someone is interested in development of such component. The reason is quite simple - it's credit cards era.

Try to read about paypal payments (very simple!). Once you get the paypal merchant account it's quite easy to connect it with your bank account(s) and for payment integration with joomla component you just have to enter your e-mail address which is associated with your paypal account and that's ALL!
As far as I know you can accept payment up to 10.000 USD per transaction with about 2.5-3.9 percent of commission fee per transaction.

You can consider one more thing.
If your client has a credit card and can use internet, it's probably easier for him to transfer money using credit card, isn't it?

Anyway wire transfer is always more complicated especially from/to other country that credit card transactions which have one standard.

P.S. You don't need a credit to accept payments via paypal.
To register paypal merchant account you don't have to pay something, it's actually as easy as e-mail account registration. So I don't see the reason you shouldn't as least have a try.
If you have something unclear, ask here, I will help you to figure out.

Many thanks for your considered reply.

I think the easiest way appears to be "eway" for us - it seems to accept both credit cards and direct bank deposits at a reasonable set up cost. I have asked our treasurer to look into eway and other alternatives - to bring us into this "century" at least. Eway is an option in DT Register

Thanks
