This might be better for the pre-sale forum, but I purchased the product so maybe not. :D

I currently use JEvent to list hundreds of programs. We're converting them to online registration. We rely heavily on JEvent's ability to tag programs to certain words and sort into multiple categories.

It appears in looking through the video tutorials that DT only uses date/time/title/location for JEvent and the details page goes to a standard article with only a single category per entry.

It seems that I'm left with two options

1) Continue using JEvent as-is and add a link tag to each description to connect with the DTR registration page

2) Use DTR, include all the information on the detail article in Joomla and duplicate the multi-category program listings so that they appear where they need to be.

If I use option 2, is there a way to have multiple programs go to the same registration page/id?

Also, unconnected in this context, but not for me, is the master program listing for DTR sortable? Some people want to sort by date to see when programs are offered, others by name so programs with multiple sessions can be listed together.

Hope this makes sense.

The data DT Register uses from JEvents is minimal, yes. Our next release actually will give the option to not use JEvents at all. The OPTION will remain however.

You can configure DT Register's event listing to make the event title link to JEvents instead of directly to registration. So if you details are there, just use that instead of the article sync. When you setup the event, the Register button from JEvents will automatically appear in the details within JEvents. That doesn't have to be added manually. Just install and enable our EventLink plugin.

When the plugin button is used in a Joomla article, you CAN use the same article for multiple events... technically... but the button will link to the next event that is assigned to the article. That may not work for you.

The event listing page has a category filter, month/year filter and a search, but not a sorting option for users.

Hope this helps answer your questions :)
