Hi everyone,

Hopefully this is not a pointless question.

What I need to do is offer my registered users the ability to create and post their own events. From what I understand, DT Register permits me to create the events myself, as opposed to the users of my site.

First of all, my users need to subscribe to create their own events. These events may involve other subscribed members who sign-up to the events themselves. Events are ad hoc and may be cancelled or the date/time changed, but they are normal events nevertheless.

My question then is - how does one expose the event creation functionality or a sub-set of it to my registered users to enable them to create and manage their own events?

Would greatly appreciate your views.

I've been doing a bit of digging -

1. Re: JEvents, the Anonymous User Event Creation add-in isn't what I'm after, since that simply permits an unregistered user to submit an event for approval

2. JCal Pro allows the end user to create events, but is unrelated to DT Register, so that doesn't help

3. Community Builder 1.2 - hhhmm, can't quite see what this offers in regard to Event Management

4. JomSocial - now this seems to have some very nice event management functionality that is connected to DT Register.

So here's the issue, my users need to create and manage events and the prices for each event are set on a number of variables e.g. the total number of people taking part in an event divided by a total cost that is made up of several other variables.

What's the best way of creating this capability? Is JomSocial + DT Register + Customisation the only way to go or am I missing a trick and just not understanding functionality that is already there - somewhere?

Has anyone else done this already with success?

In terms of my requirements, it sounds like the best thing to do is expose existing DT Register functionality to the end user, which is far more elegant to me, than using JomSocial or a.n.other extension when it's actually not needed.

What do the DT Dev. guys think about this one?

Many thanks, Alex

Alex, I see you purchased about a year ago. Guess you haven't followed any recent notices about the upcoming version 2.7. One of the MANY new features being added is frontend event management along with a full set of permissions control for you to set. This will give you what you need in a way that NO other solution can come close to. 2.7 will be released sometime next week so hang tight... your solution is on the way!

That's right. I appreciate your response - which is great news and that's probably an understatement, it is also one of relief ;)

I'll jump on 2.7 as soon as it's out since it is arguably going to be even more the force to rekon with in the event registration and management space.

Many thanks, Alex

So, if I read this right, my Community Builder members will be able to register their own events with 2.7, right?

I hope so, because that is exactly what I have been looking for.

I have been very happy with DT Register and it's what I've wanted to offer my members all along.

I know you are working hard on it, but this is worse than waiting for Santa!

Yes, you can setup a menu link to get to frontend event creation... then users will create events based on the permissions that you configure.
