What's the best way to go about this: my client has two kinds of events: one bunch that requires registration (with or without payment), and a separate set that do not require registration but should still be listed alongside the first batch (e.g. events by 3rd parties where we're just providing a link from our end).

However, there's something confusing about the "register now" button appearing on the second set of events. The "no need to register, this is FYI only" bunch obviously do not have payment associated with them (at least not payment that we'd be accepting online), but there may be free events for which we'd require registration -- so we can't use the $$$ amount as the filter. Someone suggested setting capacity to 0 to see if that would trick the system into disregarding the event, but no luck.

What would you recommend? I don't want to hack the app more than necessary, but I also do not want to return to a setup where we use jEvents for the main events list.

You can't currently disable register completely for an event, although that is coming. For now, we usually suggest that you "Close" registration by setting either the "Registration Open Date" to a future date or setting the Cut-Off Date to a past date... either way, the "Register" button will be replaced with "Closed".

Has this feature been enabled yet - I would prefer to use DT Reg as our default event calendar (and do away with JEvents completely) but the "Register" or "Closed" button present a challenge presently.

Thanks!

Yes, you can do this in 2.7. Setting the Registration Open Date for AFTER the actual event will now function as a regularly posted event... no registration details or status. Thanks.
