TOPIC: Turning off 'User Information' fields

Hello,

I'm looking for a way to turn off the "User Information" fields that show up first on a registration page. When I go into the back-end and turn off all the user information fields, the name and email still show up as required. Basically, to make things more flexible, I'm looking to use custom fields exclusively, or at least have the first fields be custom ones. Is this possible?

Sorry, First Name / Last Name / Email must remain. The upcoming 2.7 series redoes the whole fields setup so there all fields are managed together, giving full control of ordering core fields and custom fields together.

I'm looking forward to the 2.7 update. Form layout is something I would like as well.
