We'll need event registrants to be site members so that they can log in later and change their registration if they need to.

Is there a way to have the event registration be public, but have people sign up for the even on the same page that they sign up for membership to the site itself, to avoid going through two registration processes?

Sigh.... please search the forum before posting a question. This has been asked in MANY forum threads... even discussed yesterday. We are working on this functionality now so it will be available very soon. Thanks.

The registration of a new user sort of works from what I have experienced, but it's not all that smart:

1. An existing user who is not logged in is not shown any info or options to log in, so they are presented with the login form fields and risk double entering everything. It would be nice to have an Existing Users Log in Here type of link

2. New users are recorded in terms of a Joomla jos_users info
There are no Community Builder (or JomSocial?) fields presented in the form. How does one go about exposing those fields to a user, or just use the standard community builder form?

emagin - you do not login to DT Register, you login to Joomla. We will not create two versions of each form... one for logged in and one for not logged in. If you are worried about users forgetting to login, then you should put instructions above the form and/or instructions on other event-related pages on your site. Tell them to login first. You can even create a link to your login from that message.

The current DT Register syncs with both CB and JomSocial for the default fields only. When someone registers for the event and creates the user account, the address, city, phone, etc will all be loaded into CB or JomSocial... whatever exists on your site. Next week, we release the new 2.7 which allows you to sync ALL fields with CB and JomSocial, so you'll be able to gather whatever info you need for the profile as part of the event registration. Also, the new version allows you to set the auto-user creation PER EVENT... and make it optional or required.

So, it works just fine now... but will be much better next week :)

Interesting discussion...
Along these lines, two questions:
Where in the component can we edit the code to force showing a Existing Users Login Here option on every register page?
It would be onerous to manually repeat it in every event description.

OR

How does one show a register module when the reg_individual and reg_group fire?
option=com_dtregister&eventId=12&Itemid=100126&task=event_register&type=reg_individual
