TOPIC: Link to details page not working with standard Joomla SEF

I just purchased and installed DT Register and I'm putting through its paces with a test event. Everything is working well except the Details link from Event Registration page to the Event Details. Here's what happens:

I set up the event using the Section/Category/Article dropdowns to point to the details page I created. I enabled display details. I looked at the Event Registration page and there was the Details button. So far so good.

But, the Details button points to:
https://www.foo.com/foobity/368

The SEF URL that works is:
http://www.foo.com/foobity/barbity/368-test

I have System - DT Register SSL installed and enabled but the https isn't the issue.

I'm using standard Joomla SEF enabling on an apache server with the standard .htaccess file.

Any thoughts on how to tweak either DT register or Joomla SEF greatly appreciated.

Hello. I haven't seen anything like that happen before. I went to your real site (not the url in this post) and see that the link is not working. I don't see an example of the correct url. Really not sure how we can help on this one without getting in your site to see what is going on. Please submit a ticket and we'll go from there.

You could also check the Itemid override in the event that is associated with the details button. Maybe you have an Itemid assigned that is pulling a different url / page in place of what you want??

OK. I put in the Item ID for the article and got a 500 error instead of a 404.

I'll open a ticket with the relevant details in a moment.

aw craptastic. I'm getting the same thing with standard Joomla SEF as well. I'll open a ticket as well.

As stated in BOTH of your tickets...

DT Register attempts to assign an Itemid to the details article link. With core Joomla SEF, the sef url comes from the menu item when an Itemid is used. You need to create a menu item for your article's category. If you don't want it visible, just add it to a menu that is not actually displayed on the site. That doesn't matter. As long as there is a menu item in the database for the article category, then Joomla will be able to generate a SEF url for the Details article from DT Register.

then make sure you do not have anything entered in the Itemid override field for your event in DT Register. That will work with non-SEF urls or 3rd party SEF, but not with core joomla SEF.

So just create your menu item and you should be all set.

I am having the 505 error and I attempted your work around without success. It's been a long day maybe I've overlooked it 20 times - but I can't get details pages to pull up...
