today I entered a new registrant in the backend, hit save and received a message: could not instantiate mail"

I didn't receive the usual notifcation, so I assume the registrant didn't either.

the only thing I can think of is that because I have two email addresses in the admin notification it's causing a problem of some sort. (and yes they are separated with a ;)
any suggestions?

As FYI, I got the same issue on my site, but think it was because the email address I entered into the DTR form was different than the email I logged into PayPal with.

After experiencing this, I tried again just to see if using the SAME email addressed in both locations had the same result or if it worked. It DID work. the email came through to me as the registrant, the emai lfrom PayPal worked and also the email to the Site admin worked. Only problem is that I ended up with doubld registrants for no reason. I submitted a ticket to dtadmin and hope he can help, even on a Sunday.

We've seen some frontend registrations get this error message when auto-return is enabled in the paypal account. You must have IPN enabled, but auto-return should NOT be enabled. That throws things off and WILL cause your paypal registrations to not work 100% correctly.

Would someone be so kind as to tell me where in PayPal the auto-return option is set? I've been looking around and searching on paypal.com and I can't seem to find it.
Best regards,
