TOPIC: No Emails after Event Registration

I have everything set up and it looks good, but when testing the registration, it does confirm the information on the 2nd screen, then when clicking continue, the next page has 2 duplicate error messages, \"Could not instantiate mail function.\"

I don\'t get an e-mail that someone registered. And, I didn\'t get an e-mail confirming registration.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello. Were you in test mode or live mode? If in test, please run a live registration and all should be well. If you were in live mode, can you verify that your site is properly configured for sending email? Do you get emails from other components such as the Contact component?

It is live.

We have not used a \"Contact\" component because we didn\'t like the look of it.

So, I tested it and put one up live and I am getting the same error message. So, it appears this is not a DT Register issue but something in the website set up for emails.

Would you know the answer to this? Obviously I\'m very new to Joomla.

You\'ll need to modify the settings in your Global Configuration. You\'ll see three tab links at the top of the config area, click on \"Server\". On the right side of that screen will be \"Mail Settings\". The default settings work most of the time, but you may need to provide different info due to your host. Generally using \"PHP Mailer\" works fine. You may need to change that and/or provide SMTP Authentication details. You could play around with the different options, but if you don\'t get anywhere, you should contact your host and see what might be required for their server. You would also find more info on this on the Joomla forums. If this is not set correctly, you will not get any emails from the site... contact forms, user registrations, etc.

Thanks. I changed PHP Mailer to SendMail and the error message seems to be gone. But, I haven\'t gotten the e-mails delivered yet. So, I\'ll check with one of the technical people in house here to see why. Thanks!
