I certainly didn\'t mean to imply there was a problem with the package - I was simply looking to be pointed in the right direction for solving the problem I\'m having getting the file installed.
Did you check the System Info area to make sure that ALL directories are writable that Joomla requires to be? You said the /components directory but more than that directory needs to be writable.
I had developed the joomla installation under a subdirectory until I was ready to move it live about a month ago. At that time, I moved files up to the public_html root. So, as a result of the file moves, there were some directories that were not writable. However, after you mentioned checking the System Info for this, I made all the listed directories writable and re-tried the install, with the same results. It still failed to create the directory and the error message specifically states it can\'t create /components/com_dtregister - and /components/ (and every other directory listed in the System Info check page) is set to 777.
Just to follow up for anyone else who might have similar problems in the future - thanks to Nathan\'s suggestion, I disabled the FTP settings in the global configuration and the install worked.
Great! Yes, for those playing at home... I found that NO extensions were able to be installed on Melanie\'s site. If the FTP configuration is not correct in your global config, extension installs will not work correctly.
