TOPIC: event order in upcoming events module

In the component I have order of events set to manual.
But the upcoming events module insists on listing them by date/ending date. So the event that should be listed first is actually listed second.

Is there a way to fix this in the module as it exists? Or is there a workaround you can suggest?

The module does list only by date. You can filter it by category to restrict what shows, but the order is by date only at this time.
