Why won't the data that's in the fields save to CB when someone registers? I have CB integration turned on but nothing is saving when people register.
I have also synced the profile fields in the Profile Sync tab in the configuration. Something's amiss...
People are complaining that they register for an even and they fill out this long winded registration form. Then 10 weeks later they register for a similar event but they have to fill out that entire form again. I though the CB integration was supposed to alleviate that problem and populate the form fields...
DT Register does not... and never has... updated CB profiles. Whatever data is in the profile WILL auto-populate into event forms, but when you register for an event, it does not alter data already in the profile.
The only time DT sends data TO the profile is when it creates a new profile. If you use the auto user creation feature (enabled per event), when the user registers and creates their login account at the same time, all of the synced field data will be loaded into their newly created CB profile.
After that, the sync is always one-way... FROM the profile into the registration forms.
is there some sort of hack or anything to make that happen then? It seems a bit annoying to have to login, go to cb first and update your profile and then go back into dt register to register for an event. plus the need to actually tell users that.
No quick hack for that... not a simple thing to throw in like that. The way it works presently is how the vast majority of users want it. We'll certainly consider adding an OPTION where registrations can update the user profile.
Fact is though that users do not HAVE to go update their profile then go register for an event. They can if they want. Or they can simply register for the event. If any data auto-populates that is incorrect or out-dated, they can change it... unless you enable the "View Only Profile Data" feature to keep them from being able to do that.
The user can choose to keep their profile current or not to. Either way, they never HAVE to do that before being able to register for an event.
