We are trying to set up a repeating event for a council meeting but when we set up the repeating event it displays every future event with the ability to register for it.

We only want people to be able to register for one council meeting at a time. So in other words, gray out the future meetings and only allow registration for the upcoming meeting. Also, when the council meeting ends, registration for the next upcoming council meeting opens.

Is this possible?

This could be done a couple of ways:

1) When you create the repeating event, set a "Registration Open Date". All repeats will then have an open date set that is the same period of time before the event. So for example, you have an event on Oct. 15 and you set an open date of Oct. 1. That is 14 days before the event. Say the repeat is monthly. Each repeat would be listed on your site, but with no active registration until 14 days prior to the event. This is the way you can automate it... if the dates and timeframes work out for you.

2) Manually, you could bypass using an open date... create the repeating event without that. Then select all of the repeats in the backend and then click the Unpublish button in the toolbar. This route would make the repeats completely hidden until you manually publish them.
