This issue just started recently. I upgraded to the most recent version of DT Register (2.7.9) but it doesn't seem to have fixed the problem.

On the events that I have listed for payment by paypal, I receive a notification of payment from paypal, but I never receive confirmation emails about someone registering for the event, and their information doesn't go into a record.

Is this something that I need to change my paypal settings on? Everything was working fine up until about 2 weeks ago.

Any ideas for troubleshooting the issue would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hello. This will end up not being a DT Reg problem, but a setting issue of some sort. Of course, DT Reg won't just stop working so something else has been changed somewhere. Items to check:

- IPN is enabled in the PayPal account
- Auto-Return is OFF in the PayPal account
- Permissions are correct on your site (755 for directories and 644 for files)
- Make sure no firewall setup is conflicting with PayPal IPN

Basically, PayPal's IPN is unable to communicate back with your site and the reason is about 99% one of the items named above. Thanks.

Hi,

I am seeing the same behaviour on my site. Basically, once a payment has been made in Paypal, the user is given the choice for either coming back to my website, or continuing to their paypal account. If they come back to the website, everything is great, but if they choose to go to paypal account, then no records are kept and no emails are sent. Is there a way to force paypal to go back to the website after the transaction (as Auto-return has to be set to OFF) ?

Thanks,
PAtrick

benspun - this means clearly that IPN is either not enabled or it's being blocked. Do not use auto-return. Enable IPN, enable the sending of IPN messages, make sure site permissions are correct, and make sure no firewalls are blocking.

Thanks! Everything was setup properly except there was a rule in my .htaccess blocking the Paypal IPN message.
