Hi,
I'm not sure if what I'm looking for is possible or not(not much of a coder).
When clicking on the details button from an event on the events list, I'm taken to the Event Details article for that event. In my case this has to be fairly generic as it's used by multiple events of the same type, making a page for each event is just unpractical. What's great is an automatic inclusion of the "View All Events" button and the "Register Now" button.....BUT....
..why do I have to select from a drop down list?
..why is the event id not passed over to the buttons in the article?
Tthis is not user friendly...ALSO....
Have you not thought about creating a plugin to allow people to add the specific details from the event in the article allowing userto add info like date, time, price, location etc...making the "Generic" Details Page...unique per event?
Having used DT Register now in order to create an international events booking system, it almost has everything one could need except the above features.
Would it be diificult to do the above? In summary:
1. Pass details of the eventid from the event list to the buttons auto inserted into the details page(following the pressing of the "Details" button of an event from the event list)
2. Create a plugin that queries the dbase for details of the event to use in the article to make it event specific(following the pressing of the "Details" button of an event from event list)
Thanks for your input. We'll probably modify the plugin in future development to detect the event that had the details button clicked. Not as high of a priority as other items, but this has come up before so we'll get it in there when we can.
The other item for a plugin for building one article containing details for multiple events... never thought about that nor has it ever been suggested. I highly doubt we'll build that one. Just create different articles
Thanks for quick reply and good news on the button plugin update, I'll keep my eyes peeled. As for article details, it's just not practical to keep creating articles everytime you add an event when you have as many events as we do.
I guess I'll have to go it alone and offer it back to the community as an improvement to the system.
I too have many events that are the same. I have 2-3 classes per month that are repeated. It becomes cumbersome to manage different event pages for each class, especially when the only thing that changes is the date and possibly the capacity. Our students register for future events based on when they are available so I would like to have a consolidated list within one article. Then they can choose which class they will attend from a drop down of events listed within the article. It would be much easier than creating 36 article pages per year for each class we setup (currently we have 4 unique classes).
Yes...and when you have so many events as Amjin and I, even that list is difficult to manage or work with and is unhelpful for customers, expecially when locations of events are not included in the list.
Even this little change would be helpfull.
I still beleive that providing a plugin to add details to an event template would be an excellent feature or if you were ever to include K2 articles as a possible source(another brilliant way to improve look and feel of DTRegister), use little curly bracketed variables to add event details into Exra Fields for K2.
