I have an event that is a charity road race. Runners have to raise a minimum of $500 to participate, but of course can raise more.

Is there any way that a payment field can be open ended, i.e., $500 or more?

Hello. You have to have the price set for an event, however you can enable partial payments (per event) and set it for a minimum amount. So, for example, say the event calculates a cost of $750, the user can be given the choice to pay that amount or enter their own "partial payment" with a stated minimum amount next to it, which in your case would be $500.
