Currently I do not have SSL set up for my site, and therefore I am getting a "Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required" error.
It seems I need to have my host enable this service, but it is an additional $90/year which would pretty much outweigh the profit/benefits of having registration built into our website. There is a free shared SSL service that I may use that seems like it would work just fine. This would be the address for the callback URL: "
cl153.justhost.com/~username/components/...gle_notification.php
" Will that work?
What else do I need to do to make this work? I found this website
http://www.joomlahackers.net/joomla-tut ... -site.html
which tells me to adjust the .htaccess and configuration.php files, and then enable the SSL in the system configuration to "Entire Site". I tried this earlier and ended up crashing the site so that it was unavailable. Any other ideas?
Hello. SSL is required for the Google Checkout integration. Generally, shared SSL setups do not work properly, nor are they recommended. Is it possible to make it work? Probably, but we've never actually tested that setup. Maybe someone else can chime in on that.
Just go to godaddy.com and purchase a SSL certificate for $49.99/year. They have instructions for you to install and set it up yourself. Only pay your host directly for that if you can't handle setting it up yourself. I personally wouldn't fight with the shared SSL.
