Hello!
I'm really new to DT Register. So far it seems fairly simple, due to the video tutorials. I do still have questions I've discovered in the process of setting up my event passes.

1 - Customers will be emailed an automated confirmation. I see a few options for Thank yous. Where exactly is the "Ticket" with their barcode, the one I want them to present at the gate of my festival?

2 - I see a special "Discounts" menu, and also see Early Bird options in the "Events" setup. I was planning on have an Early Bird, and then discounts for those who see us in newspaper ads and on Facebook closer to the event. Do I place the percentage in the "Event"? It is already in the Discount Coupon code thing...

Thanks in advance for your help!
Much appreciated,
Linda

All emails have a list of email tags that can be included. To insert the barcode into the email, use [BARCODE]. This can be included in any of the user emails as well as the admin notification email. There is no "ticket", but you customize the "thank you email" however you want. Using the WYSIWYG editor, you can use graphics and whatever else to make that email message look like a ticket, invoice, or whatever you need. It will include the record data and barcode wherever you position it. There is a thanks email in the main configuration area that will be sent to all new registrants unless the event has created AND enabled a CUSTOM thank you email to be sent instead.

Discount Codes are separate from early bird discounts or anything else. The discount coupon code will add a discount when the user enters a code that has been given to them. The early bird discount is automatically added based on the current date. You can also trigger fees and discounts with selection fields (dropdowns, radio buttons, and checkboxes). If you are using any percentage calculations, be sure to check out "Fee Ordering". In the list of events, to the right, you'll see this link for each event. It is a drag-n-drop list of all fees/discounts related to that event. You can order them however you need to make sure your percentage calculation is done at the place you need it so you can make sure your calculations are correct.

OK. I'll figure out which place to add the Thank you and turn it into a Ticket. I don't want there to be any mistaking it... there are just so many "thank you" email options. LOL

Regarding "The discount coupon code will add a discount when the user enters a code that has been given to them. The early bird discount is automatically added based on the current date. " - I added a 10% discount on the ticket for an automatic Early Bird in the Event itself, then I added an additional 10% Coupon Code. If I leave it, does that mean the customer would get 20% off?

Hmmm. Best strategy to give out Coupon Codes for the Early Bird purchase? I will have to think this over ... but would like to know about the discount system for future reference...

New Questions: When designing images for each "Event", what is an ideal size, pixel by pixle. No events left on your demo site, so I have nothing to refer back to...

Thanks for your help! Looking forward to hearing back soon.

A discount code will be added in addition to the early bird discount, yes. Use the Fee Ordering system to order the fees to control WHEN in the calculation process the discount is calculated. Automated discounts is usually easier, but it will depend on the event. Sometimes the automated options might not work for a specific event structure. Multiple options to get the job done usually, so you can think through and do what makes the most sense for your event.

The event image has a max height and width setting in the Event Listing tab of configuration. So when you upload your image, it will not display larger than the max size. The image will retain the original dimensions but not pass the max sizes. We normally set this to default at 150px. You can play with it though until you get it how you want it.

Thanks!
Is that image going to be 150 px square? I have quite a few to design for each price category, so would rather get this right from the start. Nothing like re-doing it more than once! LOL

The image doesn't have to be a square... and there is no right or wrong size for the image. Whatever size you want! When you click on the image it opens the full size image... so you could (for example) load an image that is 400px wide, then set DT Register to display 150px maximum width. The image will show at the 150px size, then when clicked on, you'll see the full 400px size image. So create the image at the size you want it to show when clicked on... then set the maximum image size in DT Register at whatever size looks good in the list of events.
