TOPIC: [SOLVED] DT Register Won't Install

Hello!
I"m not a programmer and have limited knowledge, however have installed extensions into Joomla Before. I have Joomla version 1.5.14. I have PHP 5.2.13.
When I try to install I get this message.

* There was an error uploading this file to the server.
Unable to find install package

I am using "Extensions, Install".

I have read some other forum posts to try to figure this out but haven't found anything the same. Please help ASAP.

The install package is larger than 2 meg, your provider probably has a limit on the upload which PHP can upload. Ask them to increase it to at least 3 meg (preferably 5 or 10 meg).

Or you can try to make the install package smaller.

How do I make it smaller? Remember, not a programmer...

As GameConMemphis suggested, this would be due to a limitation on your server. You should contact your web host and ask them to increase your upload_max_filesize setting in your PHP configuration. Should be no problem. You can also try using Joomla's Install From Directory option:

- unzip the com_dtregister2_7_x_J15.zip install package. You'll then have 3 folders and one .xml file.
- via FTP, copy these folders and file to /tmp/dtregister. Create this directory. Dump the unzipped package there.
- go to the Joomla installer area and go to the middle section that says Install from Directory. Put in this directory location:
/your_joomla_location/tmp/dtregister
- Click the Install button

This may work better for you. DT Register is just a big program. Hope this helps you!

Thanks everyone for your help! I got instructions from my host / programmer dude. I was able to quite easily install by using the Install from Directory method. Already adding my event now! Yay!
