Hi, we are having two separate email issues with upgraded 2.7.3.
1.) Custom email for individual events is not sending, but default email set in general configuration is working just fine. We're working around by trying to make a blanket default email that addresses enough situations (for example language included for both free and paid events)
2.) Issues with "cannot instantiate email" error in group registrations, but no problems with individual registrations. Not sure if this is a bug or that I'm just not pushing the right buttons. We don't use group reg. very often, but it has worked fine in the past way back in 2.6.something.
I saw that someone else had a "cannot instantiate" error, but I'm not sure it applies to our situation.
Further background, we recently added google apps for education to our web site and I switched the MX records. Here's a thought about maybe why custom email isn't working. The "from" field is filled in on the default emails configuration page, but the custom email per event page does not have a "from" field. Could this be why mail isn't sending now? Pre-google custom email per event used to work. Unfortunately I can't say whether or not pre-2.7.3 custom email worked or not. I had been assuming it was and just now discovered it failed with the newest batch of events.
There are other several things that cause the cannot instatiate mail function error:
Here are the ones I know about:
1) You don't have an email address set as the from address in the global configuration
2) You don't have an email address set as the admin for the event
3) You don't have a subject configured for the admin or thank you email in the global configuration
4) You don't have a thank you email configured in global config (or in the event if you selected that option)
5) You don't have an admin email configured in global config (or in the event config if you have selected that option)
6) You are using group registration without using the email field for each member (this is a bug, I've submitted the code fix to Nathan via the ticket system yesterday).
7) You have a problem with your joomla mailing system that is not covered above.
