When I create direct URL links in Joomla 1.5.22 menus, to my event registration pages, Internet Explorer overrides those links and sends the user to the DT Register List of Events page. I've tried this several ways and all end up on the Events Listing page.

Not so in Firefox, that browser does exactly what I set the URL links at.

Anyone having the same problems?

Heya jstratos,

What kind of Menu Item Type are you using in the Menu you're using direct URLs into? Are you using an Internal Link -> DT Register -> ? or are you using an External Link?

Also, maybe a screenshot of the Menu's setup showing the URL you've configured might help me help you out. :)

Okay, the site is http://www.diabetescamps.org and I have Online Registrations in the right column. Take the 2011 Camp Member Application and click on it to see the External URL:
index.php?option=com_dtregister&Itemid=30&eventId=12&controller=event&task=individualRegister

Now, the External Menu was setup under Memberships / Apply / Camp Membership and the external URL was assigned. See below:

Works in Firefox but not in IE? I tried using the Absolute URL as well and nothing. Takes users to the Events Listings page of DTR.

Thanks for the screenshots.

My first suggestion would be to check the settings of the mod_dt_upcoming_event Module you're using. Although it may seem unrelated, I think it has something to do with how requests for the event are being handled.

Check out the "Link to" property in the Parameters section on the right-hand side in your Module's settings. I'm not sure what you have that set to, but if it's set to something like Details Article and that article doesn't exist or isn't published, I believe the behavior of DT Register would be to send you to that page full of events.

You could also try the other two settings to check behavior. This may have something to do with how IE follows redirects (and its compatibility mode).

Btw I typed this without checking the URL in the two browers... I just checked it via both browsers and I get your application just fine in both. :) (IE8 and FF) In IE8 I was prompted for showing showing insecure info with the secure info (due to the https), but I said show me both and everything came up fine for me...

Here are the mod settings and I believe they are good?

I'll check the other behaviors but I'm not sure that it will generate the direct URL to the reg page I want.

About the https issue, that's another problem I never had before with 2.6.8e

I did test using IE v8.0 on my PC and got these link errors? Development is on a MAC?
The client also has the same linking problem on IE 8.0?

Were you taken to the actual application registration form?

I just checked my mod version and upgraded from 2.9.3 to 2.9.4 and retested... same thing.

The URL link: index.php?option=com_dtregister&Itemid=30&eventId=12&controller=event&task=individualRegister was changed in the upgrade.

I noticed in IE, the browser drops everything after itemid=30, which is causing the problem. I hand coded it back in and still brings me to the list of events and not to the actual reg page?

Baffled? Are there IE security settings that I need to check that causes this?
