We just upgraded to 2.7.2 and I was hoping this might be resolved, but it's still an issue.

Things are working fine with setting capacity and the waiting list is kicking in as it should. The proper messages are also displayed when filling out the form and the proper "Thank you" message displays at the end.

The problem is with the email that gets sent. It has the same default "you are registered..." subject line and is the same email that registered users get. People are getting confused and thinking they are registered. I don't see an item to configure a "waiting list" email so I don't think this is a bug, but something that may have been overlooked.

Not a deal breaker, but annoying. :?

The admin email is also the same so it's hard to tell who is registered and who is waiting - especially because the status does not automatically come in as "waiting", but as whatever the default status is set to in the config.

We've resorted to other options (having people email us :cry: ) but we use the waiting list A LOT and it would be nice to have things run a little smoother.

That all having been said, thanks for some of the new updates! Nice to see CSV exports behaving again as well as the new update attendance button. :D

Here's just a little FYI for pondering for a future update:

Today I sent out reminders to participants of a pretty big event and used the " email registrants" feature (as I always do!).

The problem is, those who signed up through the waiting list also got the same email as registered participants and were confused because they thought it was a notice telling them a seat was available.

Granted: I didn't manually set their status to "waiting" from "active" because I didn't catch it when they put themselves on the waiting list.So, I don't know if they would have gotten the email if their status had been "waiting".

We're onto something good with having the waiting list use the same form as for regular registrations, but the separation of status between "active" and "waiting" has to be automatic and there needs to be separate email options for those who are on the waiting list.

In no way a deal breaker - I know you'll work on it eventually. I just figured I'd post it here instead of starting a ticket since this might be something that other forum users might be wondering about or looking for.

I had this same issue with 2.7.0 some time ago and created a forum posting to see if anyone had the same problem. It's a shame to hear it persists in 2.7.2.

Admins, any chance of getting this fixed in future releases? I don't need this functionality at this moment, so there's no need for a ticket.

Latour - thanks for confirming this is an issue for you too and thanks for posting a link to your original post. I was skimming the forum for a similar issue prior to posting, but I guess I didn't look long enough.

I have confidence that this will eventually be fixed. In the meantime, instead of using the "FULL" button I'm going to use a Google form and put a link to it in the message area that displays on the registration page. I guess it will be like going back to the old 2.6 way of capturing "waiters" in a separate form and then adding them in manually if a space becomes available.
