Do I need to uninstall 2.7.1c before installing 2.7.1d? Or is the uninstall only required for previous number versions, ie 2.7.0? Thanks

I always uninstall first. It doesn't remove any event data from the database, but it just 'feels' cleaner to me. Not sure why though.

Is there an 'official' way that we should be doing it?

You must uninstall, then re-install, yes. No data is lost. Files are all replaced and the database is updated if needed. Thanks.
