Hi Everyone:

DT Reg 2.7 supports repeating events but it is unclear how they work and the video for this item appears to not be available yet.

If I want to create a recurring event for the first Sat of each month, I can create it and indicate Sat but it still creates only one event in the listing. How does one register for one of the other future months? They do not appear on the front end of the site.

All info on this is appreciated.

Sincerely,
Howard

Howard, follow these steps within the event management area:

- Click NEW to create a new event
- when you see the repeating options radio buttons, select Monthly.
- Now you set how many repeats to have. Either enter a number to say, for example, "5 Repeats" or click the 2nd radio button for "Repeat Until". Here you will select a date which says this monthly repeat will continue until the given date.
- Next in the "Monthly by Days" area you will check the box for "Saturday", then also check the box for "Week 1". This will create your events on the first Saturday of each month.
- Regarding "Registration Open Date" and "Cut-off Date", these will pass on to the repeats. Might be best to leave these blank. However, for example, if you set the Cut-Off Date 5 days prior to the first event occurrence, then each repeat will automatically have a cut-off date 5 days prior to the date of the repeat. This same auto-calculation will happen for open date, late fee date, early bird dates, etc.
- Setup the rest of the event details as needed, then Save.

Thank you for clarifying this. It is very helpful. One question I have on repeating events is will they each show up in the list as a separate event right away?

If I create a repeating monthly event extending for six months, will they all show up immediately as individual events and also show up in the upcoming events module? I'd like to better understand how repeating events actually display.

My impression is that they are actually like individual events. Can they each be modified individually if there are specific details that are different for some of them?

Can people register for say the second or third event in the sequence? Can a person register for more than one of the repeating events? Thanks!

Sincerely,
Howard

I followed your instructions and now see how the repeating events show up with the + sign that allows you to expand or collapse them. Very cool. I like that you can unpublish future events until you are ready to open them to the public. Very slick. The flexibility is great. Great job!

Sincerely,
Howard

Yes, they will all show up as individual events in the list, calendar and module. Just like if you had created each one individually. You can unpublish some after creating if you want. Each repeat can be edited separately. People can register for any repeat... they have their own event IDs. There is no connection from one to the other in regards to someone being able to register for them... unless you connect them with prerequisite events. Thanks!

Is the capacity to treat repeated events as a single event in the works? I am thinking of classes that occur every Wednesday for a two month period.
