TOPIC: User Registration with event registration

I manage a membership based J1.5 site and manage member site access and payment with AEC Membership Control. My question is logistical. Is there a way, with DT Register, for users to pay membership fee (in addition to event fee) when registering for an event and create their CB user account in the process?

Complicated I know. I'm positive there's a process or workflow that'll resolve this need. Unfortunately, I can think of it now. FYI, I haven't upgraded to 1.7 yet.

Besides it's initials problems, the DT Register installation the site runs has been altered to use an unsupported payment gateway called FirstData Global Gateway. Like I said: COMPLICATED. Though I'll lkely wait until the Spring after all current events have closed, I'm thinking through these challenges now and would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.
