Make sure you have entered both a start date/time AND and End date/time. Also look for any red X icons on any of your event tabs that would represent a problem with a parameter. If you can't figure out what the issue is, submit a ticket with the event data you are trying to create. We'll check out your site and see what is causing the problem.

I was having the same issue. When setting up a new event without using JEvents, it will not accept a valid date and time for the start of the event. There is a red X next to the fields, not a blue check. If you click on it, it will change to a blue check but then when you click apply or save, it goes back to the X.

I set up the same event using JEvents and did not have this problem.

I had a problem not being able to save and solved it this way...

I had been using an older version - 2.5.x. I tried to upgrade to version 2.7.x and was not able to save any data. I had also uninstalled JEvents because it is not officially needed by version 2.7.x .

To solve the problem, I uninstalled version 2.7.x, then installed version 2.6.x and saved a couple of configuration changes, then uninstalled version 2.6.x and re-installed version 2.7.x. I also re-installed JEvents just for insurance purposes.

DTRegister is now working perfectly and I love it.

I was upgraded from 2.6.8 to 2.7.1d. After installing I clicked "Migrate 2.6 records" over. Everything was working. Then I uninstalled JEvents and then I could not save or apply.

I reinstalled JEvents but still had the problem so I clicked the Migrate 2.6 records again and bingo, it worked.

rob - migrating the 2.6 data like you did does not remove the need for JEvents. Your events will still be connected to JEvents. To get rid of that, you'll need to use the "Unsync JEvents" tool. After running that, all events should be 100% editable within DT Register... meaning you'll now be able to edit the event title, date and time within DT Register. Once you verify that you are able to do that, it should be a sign that it's now okay to uninstall JEvents. Thanks.
