TOPIC: Drop down box problem - urgent!

i have a drop down custom box with several selections underneath. to keep the look consistent in the site, i made the first highlighted selection, \"Select\" so the menu goes something like this:

- Select
- Football A
- Football B

and so on... can i make it where \"select\" is not an acceptable option? i\'d like it to be on the top of the drop down box b/c it looks better, but if someone forgets to change it to fooball then the registration process\' fine and it causes problems for me on the back end.

how can i get around or fix this up?
i need to have it up and live by tomorrow!
