TOPIC: Integrating JomSocial Events with DTRegister

Hello,

We prefer to use our JomSocial calendar over DT Register's because we want our users to be able to create their own events. However, not every event that is created will our site be hosting the registration for. It would be very helpful to add a feature that would allow the administrator to link a particular event registration to an event on the JomSocial calendar. Currently these two calendars are pretty much 2 separate things, the only integration that has been implemented is that the form fields are autopopulated if a user is already logged in, which is still very nice.

This would be my No.1 new feature request right now too...

Going from DT Reg to JomSocial (and helping other integrations too, eg in my case going to MyBlog as well) I think DT Reg would actually improve if instead of having the 'Link to Joomla Article' option, this was changed to a far more simple 'Link to URL' - Then people would have far more flexibility over where the 'More Details' button on DT Reg Summary page takes people too...

In the other direction, it would sure be great if when viewing a JomSocial event, there was a way to associate with the DT Reg form... but maybe that is something JomSocial would need to develop - or maybe it's possible with plugin code into the text area...

JomSocial also allows users to RSVP for an event, which is rather confusing since this does not constitute paying for and registering for an event. However, we don't host registration for all events on our calendar, so it is still a nice feature for others to show other non-hosted events that they will be attending. What we would also need is to remove the JomSocial RSVP for events that don't have corresponding registration pages with DT Register.

Does anyone have a response to this? It seems like a simple enough idea - the two calendars seem like they would be compatible in this way given the other plugins that have been published for JomSocial.

We use this method to utalize dtregister in Jomsocial events
I like having one calendar for my camping club events we started out with jevents and all was good with the admin setting up events. DT register opened us up to a list of who is going and our events went from 20 members to over 200 overnight. We now enjoy Jomsocial events but members would not visit the calendar or list. I recently dropped view of the jevents calendar and use method below. This method forces members to look at jomsocial list of events with all the avaliable modules maps and searches there are available for jomsocial events.

We set up a user named "ChapterEvents" . ChapterEvents opens up a Jomsocial Event and sets the available seats (KampSites) to 1. that forces the inability for other members members to click "they passively plan to attend" I changed the Jomsocial language file for <Confirmed Guests>to read

I insert minimal details about the event and stack three images as links
1. CLICK HERE TO SEE WHO IS GOING
2.CLICK HERE FOR CHAPTER EVENTS DETAILS
3.REGISTER NOW (dtregisters asset image)
I highlight each and make them a link to the appropriate page.

We now use a joomla article for event details and cant wait to get away from the jevents calendar all together. My process is a bit cumbersome but a good fit while we wait for more integration. I would like to replace the Confirmed guest list on Jomsocial events to a link where I can show either the (JomsocialEvents Guest list) or the (DTRegister attendee List)

we place a BlueEvent icon for Chapterevents requiring dtregister . that way members can see from the list that this is the organized event.

Any developer viewpoint on the integrations with JomSocial events?

My New Year Wishes would be:

1) A fix for this issue with the Activity Stream plugin:

2) A simple (I hope!) plugin whereby if a logged in user registers for a DT Reg event, then the JomSocial 'I am attending this event' table is populated with that person.... That might be the quickest and most effective step to start bringing in new JomSocial users to the DT Reg component
