Hi,

due to some changes I am in need to change my whole template.
Though I have all my events and bookings and so on in my old template I am asking myself -and now you ;-) - is there a way to copy, move, export or whatever my DTRegister-Data to the new template?

Best regards from germany

Fritz

Hello. A template has no connection to DT Register. If you are really just changing the template on your Joomla site, you don't need to do anything to DT Register as it will not be affected.

The only way you'd need direction on moving DT Register data is if you were moving to a completely separate Joomla installation.

Hi Nathan,

sorry, I was not precise enough.
Actually I will redo everything from zero. So it will be a new Joomla installation also....

If you are moving DT Register data to a new Joomla installation, do the following...

NOTE: These instructions apply only if you are maintaining the same version of Joomla (1.5, 2.5, etc) and DT Register.

- export all "_dtregister_" database tables.
- on new database, import the DT Register data. Note that if the prefix of the new database is different than the old one, you'll have to change that on your DT Register data.
- Install DT Register on the new site. Install the version that was being used on the old site.
- Once everything is loaded and in place, you can re-apply any changes you had made to CSS, language, etc. You could also look at doing any DT Register upgrades that may need done.

Thanks for your very fast reply, Nathan.

I would stay within joomla 2.5 but doing this with the plan in mind to upgrade (the then new installation) later 2014 to joomla 3.x.
Will this be possible?

Moving from 2.5 to 3.1 is pretty easy actually. Move your site as-is since it sounds like you are moving for other reasons. Then later, when you are ready and confirm that all of your extensions have 3.x support, then do that update. You can upgrade DT Register at that time also to our 3.x version.
