TOPIC: Do I need Community Builder?

The User Profile Integration is listed as Community Builder. Is that because it is included with DTRegister? If not, do I really need it?

We accept registrations and payments for one event each year. We may want to have registered users and even allow them to return to add details to their registration, like attendees.

Hello. Community Builder is completely separate and is not required. You can sync the DT Register fields with profile fields in either Community Builder or JomSocial so the data from the profile auto-populates into registration forms.

If you want to all users to edit registrations, you will have to use a site login. If you're going to do that, we recommend using CB or JS. Core Joomla user profiles have only a name and email address.

Not sure if I'll need that for login or not. Is there any other reason to use it?

If you are not going to use a login feature, then CB would be void anyway. It's not going to affect anything unless someone is logged in.

Joomla version 1.7 has a full user profile that includes address, city, state, zip and so on, #__user_profile is the table. It would be nice to auto-populate DT Register fields from the existing profile if the user is logged in.

clothesliner - DT Register syncs with ANY CB field, whether it was created on install or not. In DT Reg config, go to Profile Sync and you select which DT fields sync with which CB fields. Easy
