DT Register allows you to register online for EVENTS. This does not register joomla users for a new user account... if that is what you are asking.
We are about to release a new version (tonight) where you can set events as public or private. If the event is private, a user would have to be logged in before registering for the event.

Does this mean that with this new version if an event is set to public a visitor would not need to register (with username and password) in order to sign up for an event? Which version is the latest (i.e. which version are you referring to?)
If it was set to private, would a visitor be able to use an existing username/password that wasn\'t set up through Community Builder but through another social netorking platform (like JomSocial)?
cawijistudios - the latest version is 2.4 and does include the public/private functionality. Public means anyone can register for the event. private means they see the event, but are not able to register for it.
Community Builder is not required at all. Doesn\'t matter HOW the user account was created, but when the user is logged into to the Joomla site, DT Register will recognize that and give them access to private events.
kyle - Not at all. This is an OPTIONAL feature that was recently added. If you leave the events set as public, anyone can register for them. The private/public setting is made per event so you have the OPTION to make that distinction if you need or want to.
