TOPIC: [SOLVED] Upgrading to 2.7 - What Am I Doing Wrong?

I've tried and tried to move from 2.6.9a to the 2.7 releases, but I've never been able to successfully upgrade and preserve my current events and records.

I need to set up a major new event and some of the features that 2.7 offers are appealing, so I decided to give it another try and I still get the same result.

Here's what I've done:
• I installed JEvents 1.5.5d
• I was running 2.6.9a, and the upgrade process is confusing. It give you 2.6.9c and says you need to have 2.6.9 installed first. I was unsure which version, so I usually uninstall 2.6.9a and install 2.6.9c
• Then I opened and saved all of my custom fields and all of my forms and the general configuration
• Then I uninstall 2.6.9c and upload 2.7.3c
• I go to the control panel and click on the migrate 2.6 records link and hit the big green arrow. I get a message that they've been migrated successfully
• After that, when I go to my records, they are all still blank, and my events all still listing a date with no name of the event

What am I missing?

I had the same problem!

If you have not figured this out yet, the answer is to open up and resave EVERYTHING. Go into 'Fields' and click on every field and SAVE, same for events, categories (which also must be published), locations, whatever.

I checked after every action, and it was the open and resave of locations which finally made my events reappear in the event tab.

So, when the readme file says to RESAVE EVERYTHING, I guess it means it!

OK apparrently there is something else going on now.

I had all my events visible. Have continued to edit configuration settings, etc and all of a sudden I notice that my event RECORDS are all GONE again!

Does anyone have any idea how I can make these re-appear? Thanks.

I see what it is, but do not know why. I was on 2.6.9c before migration, and I did use the migrate records function in the control panel.

My records seem to have all of the correct information populated EXCEPT for the event name. Apparrently my records are no longer associated with their events.

How did I do this, and How can I fix it??

I am working in a test system, so I can (and have) restore and repeat the process. I need to know this works before I do it with my live system. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

This isn't a great answer, I know, but I FINALLY got it to work.

The key is that it NEVER worked when I was in MAMP using it on my development copy of the site.

But finally, I just threw in the towel and planned on redoing everything from scratch to get it up to date. When I tried it on my live sites, it worked fine. On 2 different sites.

Sadly, that is not the case for me. My test site is a regular Joomla installation on a linux box using a subdomain. When I want to experiment with a new release of something I take a current backup of my live site, restore it to the subdomain root, and I'm in business.

I need to find out why I am having this trouble before I try it live. We have too many records to consider manual fix. I can probably fix it by running SQL updates, but I'd sure like to know what is "special" about me.
